About the Property

In the local dialect of Manali, the word “Shaurn” refers to a small kathkuni-style house, often found tucked away in orchards and farmlands across the valley. These homes were traditionally built by local families—crafted from stone, wood, and earth—to withstand the mountain weather while remaining warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to the land. Shaurn House takes its inspiration from this very idea. The property was envisioned and personally designed by Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, who wanted to create a space that felt less like a hotel and more like a mountain home—a place where guests could slow down, breathe the crisp Himalayan air, and experience the warmth of traditional Himachali living. Every element of the house reflects this philosophy. From the stone used in the walls to the mud-plastered surfaces that give the interiors their earthy texture, the materials have been consciously sourced to stay as close to nature as possible. The design draws inspiration from the timeless kathkuni architecture of Himachal—simple, sturdy, and deeply rooted in the landscape. Mr. Sharma personally oversaw every detail of the property, shaping both the exterior architecture and interior spaces with care and intention. The goal was not to build a conventional resort, but to create a boutique mountain house that feels intimate, authentic, and welcoming. Surrounded by mountains and nestled beside a small apple orchard, Shaurn House carries the quiet charm of a traditional Himachali home—where mornings begin with soft mountain light and evenings settle into a peaceful stillness. At Shaurn House, we hope every guest feels what these homes have always represented in the Himalayas: a place of warmth, comfort, and belonging. A place that feels like a home away from home in the mountains.

ROOM - WITH BALCONY

The Nazara / Valley View room earns its name from every angle. Step onto the balcony and take in a sweeping nazara — the garden, the mountains, and the open Kullu valley laid out before you. Step into the bathroom and find something unexpected — a glass viewing panel that frames the raw texture of the hillside rock, bringing the outside in even here. Two very different views, one remarkably complete room.

FAQ

Everything You Need to Know

Q1. Where exactly is Shaurn House located and how do I get there?

Shaurn House is located in Jagatsukh village, on the west bank of the Beas river in Manali, Himachal Pradesh — one of the oldest and most culturally rich villages in the valley, just approximately 7 km from Manali Mall Road. The property is easily accessible by road, and Bhuntar Airport is the nearest airport for those flying in.

Q2. What makes Shaurn House different from other hotels in Manali?

Shaurn House is a boutique property in Jagatsukh — a heritage village that most Manali visitors never discover. Built entirely in the traditional Himachali style with mud-plastered walls, local stone, and wooden ceilings, it offers an experience that is rooted, personal, and far removed from the busy tourist strip of Mall Road. With just 12 rooms, every stay here is intimate by design.

Q3. How do I choose the right room for my stay?

Shaurn House has six distinct room types — from the cosy Pahaad Kona to the indulgent Kund / Bathtub Suite, the view-forward Nazara / Valley View, the waterfall-facing Jharna Suite, and the spacious Ghar / Family Suite. Each room has its own character and the right one depends entirely on who you are travelling with and what kind of stay you are looking for.

Q4. What can I see and do around Shaurn House?

Jagatsukh is one of the oldest villages in the Kullu-Manali valley, with ancient temples, traditional architecture, and orchard trails right at your doorstep. The Beas river runs close by, and the Baror Parsha waterfall is visible directly from several rooms. Manali Mall Road, Solang Valley, and Rohtang are all within easy reach at just 7 km away — giving you the best of both worlds, the calm of a heritage village and the buzz of Manali.

Q5. Is Shaurn House suitable for a family trip or a group getaway?

Absolutely. Shaurn House is ideal for families and groups who want something more personal than a large resort. The Ghar / Family Suite is designed for larger groups with its two-level layout, and multiple rooms can be booked together across categories to create a private group experience. At just 12 rooms, a group booking here feels like having your own home in the Himalayas.
